In July we celebrate Independence Day. It's also the time for summer fun, vacations and the outdoor activities we've been waiting for all year. The shops at Stuyvesant Plaza can accomodate many of your summer needs.

 Plaza Fitness at Stuyvesant Plaza is proud to have received the 2008 Achievement Award for Recreation Provider of the Year, from the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC).
According to the DDPC website, the Council's Achievement Awards Program "is designed to recognize the exceptional accomplishments and contributions of New Yorkers with developmental disabilities and to acknowledge individuals and/or organizations throughout New York State who have been trailblazers in the field of developmental disabilities."

Creo', the new restaurant being built to replace Mangia at Stuyvesant Plaza, will open with a new chef and manager. Chef Andrew Plummer and manager Paul McCullough will leave McGuire's in Albany. Plummer will be Executive Chef of Creo' and McCullough, the restaurant's General Manager.
"With them we think we've got the best chef in the entire area (and) the best front-end person in the entire area," said David White, a principal and developer of the new restaurant.
A late-September opening is expected for Creo'. The restaurant plans to target a larger market than McGuire's, with more diners experiencing progressive food, stylish presentation and service with panache, but at lower prices.

With the summer months upon us many of us are gearing up for vacations. Remember to show your appreciation to those you enlist to hold down the fort while you are away. Instead of waiting until the end of the trip, show your appreciation during your absence.

Welcome New York Giants - Super Bowl Champions!
 For the 13th year, The University at Albany will host the Giants, who won their third Super Bowl Championship last season, for a four-week training camp. Practice is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 25 and ends on Sunday, August 17.
